AeroWeb | Brand identity for Costa Rica's aerial internet infrastructure company

AeroWeb approached our agency with a bold vision: to revolutionize internet connectivity in Costa Rica's remote regions through innovative aerial technology. The challenge was to create a brand identity that would resonate with both rural communities and technology stakeholders while embodying Costa Rican values and innovation.

AeroWeb emerged from a collaboration between Costa Rican tech entrepreneurs in 2024. Their proprietary technology (currently being developed at TEC Cartago) combines high-altitude platforms with advanced networking solutions to deliver reliable internet access to areas where traditional infrastructure is impractical or impossible to implement.

Goals

  • Establish AeroWeb as an innovative provider of internet access in Costa Rica
  • Convey the unique technology and approach of using balloon-based infrastructure
  • Create a modern, tech-forward brand that also connects to the local community
  • Develop a scalable identity system that can grow with the company

The Challenge

Market Context

Costa Rica's digital landscape presents unique challenges:

  • 27% of rural areas lack reliable internet access
  • Mountainous terrain makes traditional infrastructure costly
  • Strong environmental protection laws limit ground-based installations
  • Cultural diversity requires inclusive communication

Brand Objectives

  1. Position AeroWeb as a trusted technology pioneer
  2. Create an approachable yet innovative brand identity
  3. Reflect Costa Rican values and natural heritage
  4. Build credibility with government stakeholders

Solution

AeroWeb Brand Identity

Our brand strategy centered on creating an identity that captures both the ethereal nature of AeroWeb's technology and Costa Rica's natural beauty. The visual system draws inspiration from the country's dramatic skies, where technology and nature meet.

The AeroWeb mark represents the seamless connection between earth and sky through a thoughtfully crafted "AW" monogram. The distinctive gradient transition from crisp white to tropical sky blue embodies the company's role in bridging terrestrial communities with aerial technology for telecommunications. This core design element reflects both the physical nature of their solution and the transformative impact of their service.

Color System

Drawing directly from Costa Rica's atmospheric palette:

Primary Blue: Captures the vibrant morning skies of the tropical climate Gradient White: Represents both clouds and the transition from ground to sky Deep Gray: Grounds the system while providing contrast for technical applications

This carefully curated palette creates a visual language that feels both locally authentic and technologically advanced, with the gradient serving as a powerful metaphor for connectivity and progress.

The core brand essence "Elevating Connections and Preserving Nature" is supported by five fundamental values:

  • Innovation with Purpose
  • Environmental Harmony
  • Community Empowerment
  • Costa Rican Pride
  • Digital Inclusion

These values inform every aspect of the brand's expression, from marketing materials to community outreach programs, ensuring consistent storytelling that resonates with both rural communities and technology stakeholders. Through this thoughtfully crafted system, we created a brand that feels authentically Costa Rican while maintaining the sophistication expected of a cutting-edge technology company. The identity system scales effectively across all touchpoints, technical documentation, community education materials, and more while maintaining its core connection to Costa Rica's natural heritage.

Results

  • Secured initial funding from major Costa Rican tech investors
  • Achieved brand recognition in pilot communities
  • Established partnerships with a major technical university
  • Created foundation for expansion into other Central American markets
